90 TRACKER-NO HOT WATER TO HEATER HOSES

I following Sarges advice checked the heater hoses and both are cold.I have been running some Prestone 10 minute cleaner in the Tracker for about 4 weeks,I would have thought that would clean out the garbage, guess not.Where would you start the cleaning process. My thought is to drain the cooling system and run water a while to flush out what I can that way. Then air pressure thru the heater core and water pump and return hose port.Any more ideas,Thanks for the HELP,RR

Re: 90 TRACKER-NO HOT WATER TO HEATER HOSES

Not hot to either one? I suspect if the heater core was completly plugged that hot water wouldn't even flow to the core, but if there is partial flow the supply hose should get warm.

So your plan to flush with straight H2O seems a good place to start and possibly check the external pipe for plugging/clogging. Maybe disconnect the core hoses and try the garden hose through the core to see if you can unclog it.

I suspect you and I will both be pulling dashes shortly to replace cores. Me maybe this weekend.

(But I found a used hard top in my town at the price I can afford so warmer temps for my commute are coming soon!)

Re: 90 TRACKER-NO HOT WATER TO HEATER HOSES

RR,
The first thing I would do is disconnect both heater hoses at the block. See if there is any flow,
and if so back flush the heater core and hoses. If there is no flow, go through the hoses till you
find the plugged section or pin the prob on the core.

If the hoses/core are clear, you could have a plugged fitting in the block or, we once had a fitting
that extended into the intake and the end had been bent over (BB Ford, might not be possible here).
A hack saw fixed that one!.

hmm.. does the Geo have a heater control valve like the sammy.. I don't recall. The heat in my sammy was a no-go and my valve was stuck.
