HTH ob2 16v swap pics...

Here's a bunch of pics, I don't have the show pic thing worked out so bear with me...

This first one is the obligatory engine bay.

Poor quality due to glare, but you can see that all the smog crap is installed... air box, wire loom and all...

Re: HTH ob2 16v swap pics...

I cut the hood BEFORE I realized that I needed to lift the body 1" for the tank.

So the front bumper got a lift too (gaps I don't like...)

The glare sucks...

Re: HTH ob2 16v swap pics...

Someone asked how much 1" is worth and does it affect the shifters, steering, etc.

Steering: a touch more slop
Shifters: no noticable differance

This pic shows the height of the second stick and a neccesity with the fi swap... a fire extinguisher!

Re: HTH ob2 16v swap pics...

This is where the 1" was golden. There is already an inch or so gap between the body and the frame rails near the tank. I chose to rout the filler tube through this gap after "biggy sizing" it. The tube is squeezed a little but fills fine... so far....

I also raised the tank, since I had to fabricate the mounts anyway, and I routed the fuel lines over the cross rail that hangs the shocks too.

Re: HTH ob2 16v swap pics...

So the tank was a piece of cake right? well.. no. Because I raised the tank as high as I could I had to move the air bottle thing from it's stock location on the tank to the sami's stock location in the corner of the cab.

I also had to cut out the filler tube. Luckily, the tracker's was bolt on so it was (almost) just a matter of cut and paste.

This pick is lousy too. It shows the bar hanging the rear, and you can almost see the L metal hanging the front. The glare sucks.

Can you see the relationship between the bottom of the tank and my shackle? I gained a whopping 1/2 gallon of gas capacity (big whoop) and at least an inch of clearance (which I like).

This pick is of my nice butt... heh

The body lift is almost unnoticable, This pic may better show the ground clearance I have under the tank.

The dash is still a work in progress. I think the lens really fisheyes the hole cuz it looks a lot better in person. I have the trim almost done but it isn't on in these pictures.

Wohoo, a tach, daytime running lights, yum!

Re: HTH ob2 16v swap pics...

For the small price of no vents.. except for defrost (hey I'm not completely stupid) you too can sink a gigantic gauge cluster into the little sami dash...

That's all I have, I will be happy to offer any advice I can. I will remind you that I am still in the "lab" stage so some of my solutions have not been proven yet. So listen at your own risk
