Need some help...

Okay, my GM 2.8L V6 has a compression leak somewhere and after talking to a few friends about it, they all told me to check the head gasket. My push rods are set in right (thought they might of been too tight), they all move good, valve cover gasket is good, and it ran great before I changed out the head gasket. I put the heads back on like the manual says and in the right order, ect... but was told that the gasket that I got from Advance Auto Parts is $hit (for lack of a better word) and was told to get another one. What Gasket would you use? if it isn't the gasket then what else could it be? Thanks for any help! I need my Zuk running again!

Re: Need some help...

If you have a good quality GM dealer in your area you might want to run it by them. Or go up to the GM/Chevy board. Jim

FELPRO, that is what Tim Porter told me to get but I couldn't remember what he said, we started to talk about other stuff and I forgot what it was. He is out 4wheeling this weekend and I can't get ahold of him. Great, now I know where to go!! Thanks

JimZuki, I haven't done a compression check! I might have to go out and get a guage to check it this weekend. I hope to get her running by tomorrow or Sunday morning. The weather is getting too cold to ride my Motorcycle to work! Thanks for the help guys!

Re: Need some help...

howdy,
it helpfully should be the head gasket. it could also be rings, valve lap problem, spark plug leak, or hopefully not a crack.
