Weber/Mega Flow Pre Heat Setup

McGyver mode on...........

With the cold weather starting to set in, I installed my home brew pre-heat setup on my Weber/Mega Flow equipped 1.6.

Some of the parts I used:

pre-heat hose & hose clamps
(2) clamp on header hot air fittings
aluminum tape
plastic bucket cut up to form a "shroud"
assorted machine screws and wire cable mounts (T&B)
rubber hose adapter (Home Depot)

I'll have the pics up in a couple of hours when my batteries recharge, but the results are in..........

This morning....ambient air temperature was 46 degrees. Using a digital volt/temp meter with the probe inside the "shroud", the air temp inside reached 72 degrees (hood open). This setup helped a great deal with the carb icing I experienced last winter.

Although I'm using a Mega Flow unit, it can be adapted to the "performance" air filter that some Weber's come with........

Again, pics will be posted in a couple of hours.....

And I did it all with a Swiss Army knife......
(only kidding!)

Re: Weber/Mega Flow Pre Heat Setup

Very true Tim!

My buddies when growing up were involved in all manner of racing: Formula Ford, 1/4 milers, roundy round, etc., etc...
Some were so anal regarding their vehicles, almost bordering on the absurd. Guess some of this has stuck despite the years.....

Hoping to get heaps of the fluffy stuff! Can't wait to use the LSD in the snow as well as cozying up to a raging fireplace with my honey! Life is good!!!!!!!!!!!

And.... a 4.16 case is in the near future....
