Extra Capacity Oil Filter?

Is there a bigger filter I can use for my sammy? For example, the book at the parts store says I should use Fram PH3614 in my Toyota, but the Fram PH3600 is twice the size, with the same threads & diameter.

Is there one for the zuke (1.3L) that's twice as big as the one listed? Thanks,

Steve O'

I'd love to know also. I prefer the pureolator pure 1 (the expensive glitterey blue one ).

Re: Extra Capacity Oil Filter?

My next door neighbor bought a bunch of "Champ" PH400 filters for his late model Cougar from Montgomery Wards when they were going out of business.

Then, he gave them all to me...

They fit but are about 2" longer.

I am not sure that I am ready to use "close cover before striking" brand filters on my Samurai, but a name brand filter that crosses to that number might prove useful.

Re: Extra Capacity Oil Filter?

Ask Crow about his Amsoil Bypass Filter system. I have seen data where people are running over 100K miles without changing oil with this type of system. Even trucks at almost 500K miles without a change and still being able to have what they call "analytically pure" oil throughout the whole process. The trucks torn down at 435K miles showed wear of only about 5% on surfaces. Interesting info.

Re: Extra Capacity Oil Filter?

if it's a PH number, it's probobly made by fram and sold as another brand. from what i understand, only a few companies actually make the filters and they're sold under different names. i'll check out the PH400 vs. the one i have next time i'm at advance auto. thanks,

Re: Extra Capacity Oil Filter?

I believe some guys run a Toyota filter(V6 Camry???) that is bigger........it won't fit a Zuk with a/c. I'll search for the number.

Re: Extra Capacity Oil Filter?

This going to the extreme, and was a bit pricey, but I feel it was worth the cost because of the extra capacity and protection that it provides.....
