yet another newbee checkink in

I picked up my '88 Sami about 3 weeks ago. Ive done some easy stuff to make life a little easier, moving mirrors for better view, new doors that work(still need a window crank but thats the passenger side), thumb throttle (yet to be installed), and new door and rear pannels(just got havent installed yet), I also have everything I need to install a snorkle thanks to some plumber friends of mine. I still need to find the Check Engine Light swith and get that shut off and get the emisions checked by the end of Dec. The posts on this BBS Ive been able to get a starting point for more substansive modifications. Just another newbee checking in.

Re: yet another newbee checkink in

Welcome

For the check engine light switch,To reset it just push it the other position.

For the switch open the drivers door kneel on the ground and look at the under side of your steering column.
The switch is located between the steering column and a 3" long angle iron looking bracket that is welded on to the round pipe. Sitting in the driver seat it is almost straight under the ignition switch that you put your keys in to start the samurai. There will also be three wires going to this switch (white, red, blue) ?? hope what I wrote makes some sense.

Welcome aboard. You'll really enjoy your zook and building it up. I'm guessing you have great trails to ride there. Even your main roads are fun i'll bet.

Re: yet another newbee checkink in

Thanks for the welcome yall. And thanks for the tip on where to find that damn switch. With the Sami I now own the two vehicles Ive made fun of the most over the years. Im still looking for bugs in the Sami before I take it out on a trail but it is damn fun on the street and romping down dirt roads. Being sick these past few days Ive poured though the posts on this board and found a shi*load of info and answers to questions I hadnt even thought of. Only way for this rig to be more fun, if it where right hand drive.

I'm also glad to see your handle doesn't mean your going postal with an AK-47. We sure don't need that here in Virginia.
