Carb rebuild Part II
Ok, I rebuilt the carb last night, it seemed to go ok. It seems to be better but it still won't start unless the throttle is floored and cranked for a long time. It dies as soon as the throttle is released. My EGR valve has a hole in the back of it. It was caked with gunk and after I cleaned it out it started running poorly. I can't find a used EGR valve within 100 miles of here and a new one will cost $130 and take over a week to get here.....
So what are my choices?
1. JB weld the valve and see if it works.
2. Look for a used valve on here.
3. Buy a new valve YIKES!!
4. For twice the cost of a valve, buy a webber.
Eventually I would like to have a 1.6 with EFI, but this is a new project, I've had it for a week and a new top, lift, tires and transfer gears will be done first. I'll do the 1.6 if the 1.3 kicks the bucket or I find a screaming deal on one.
Any suggestions guys? Anyone else have experience with this problem. I guess I shouldn't have started the tuneup, at least I'd still be driving it now!!
