t-case is out...questions

Well I finally got the t-case out this weekend.
I got a Calmini 4.16 kit and a Forrest bucket sitting by, but I want to clear up a few things before I tear into it.

2 of the short arm bolt heads popped right off when I was taking it out. Should I try to easy -out the broken off bolts or drill them out and re-tap the holes?
I soaked it in liquid wrench for a few weeks.
I am worried about twisting off other bolts when I go to take the t-case apart.

I Have a 5" spoa kit from RRO on my rig with the rear perches drilled back an inch for extra wheelbase and I noticed the rear shaft is bottomed out with it just sitting in the garage...Should I just remove the 1" spacer? anyone else see this problem?

When I figgure these things out, I am gonna tear into it for the 4.16 gears.

Re: t-case is out...questions

You have 5" of lift AND you've moved the axle back AND your driveshaft is bottoming out? Something sounds strange there. With that setup the ideal spacer should be about 1.25".

Good luck on getting the bolts out with an EZ-out. I've snapped so many of them over the years.... inside the bolt. My advice, just plan on drilling the bolt out and use a re-thread or tap to larger bolt.

Re: t-case is out...questions

I agree with the EZ out (hardened non drillable hole filler)
they do break, as I did just the other day.

as for the short arm, mine did that to, I just drilled and re-tapped the hole...that was all I could do.

with the other bolts that hold the t-case together, you should not have a problem with them comming out...

good luck..
