If you get an 83, you may not have to shorten it. I used a 91. The C/V end had a larger hole pattern than made it real close to fit. Seems to me, I read the earlier ones hade a smaller pattern.

84 and earlier has the smalleryokes on them and they are a little shorter, Newer IFS front shafts from what I have read On the TOy boards dont have as much clearence for angles so the in my op 83-85 would be a safe bet

The early yota 4x4 shafts are shorter and are about the right length for the rear of a lifted Samurai. The IFS shaft is about 5" longer but have a better designed cv.

howdy,
so i guess i'm looking for a driveshaft out of anything beside the tocoma. because i know the old 78-83 tocoma's had the rust problem and are a dime dozen to find. would these make good axle donors?

the tacoma didnt start until the 95 or 96 model year .. your best bet is to find a solid axle front DC driveshaft, it has more droop, then the IFS front(I have a 90 something shaft as well as a 85 and 80) I think the easiest would be the 80-83(i think) shafts, they are shorter so you wouldnt have to worry about it.
