Need wheels and tires, help with sizes, etc....

Hey all,
I have a 97' Tracker 2dr. currently with stock alloy wheels and Goodyear 215/75/15's on it. I would like to do some more serious off-roading, but nothing extreme as this is a daily driver. Any recommendations as far as going with 235 tires on the stock rims or going to steel wheels and larger tires. What is the bolt pattern and back space I need and where do I get them. TIA

Sorry, but any larger tires are gonna require some sort of lift.

A Body lift is helpful, but I understand that a body lift along with a suspension lift is the best way to get bigger tires underneath a Tracker for offroading. Although there are other sites that can help your research, NorthCoast Offroad (northcoastoffroad.com) and calmini.com are two good places to start.

Here's my CHEAPO Tracker buildup!

RRO get the 1" spacers and 2" body lift.
Longer rear shocks, $10 cheapies from a 1990 Mustang GT
Flip front strut mounts, this helps front flex some great with 1" spacers.
Throw out sway bar.. I took mine off and never really missed it.
some 15x7" rims, around 3.5" BS is fine (standard offset)
Either 235's or 30x9.5 shoudl clear no problem.

Good LUCK!

Here is mine with 1" spacers, 3" Calmini body lift, 30x9.5 in 15x8" rims, the body lift doesn't help alot but the 2" should be plenty and is less headaches to install.

Hello Ed,

Maybe we can trade? I've got a set of 30X9.50 all terrain tires mounted on 2 inch backspaced rims.

Where are you located?

No offense but with the Tracker you don't want the offset wheels or they will rub on the back of the fenders. My 30x9.5 on 3.5" BS 15x8's were VERY close to rubbing, with another 1.5" of offset they would ahve rubbed for sure.

Right. Take a great big hammer to the fenders. Don't quit until the rubbing stops.

31 X 10.50 on 15 X 8 rims with 2-3/4" backspacing...
