1.3L Starting problem

The sami runs great, but if I let it sit for more than a day, it takes about 15-25 seconds to start. Its acting like the fuel in the lines and floatbowl evaperates. How do I fix this?

Re: 1.3L Starting problem

I wonder if there's a check valve somewhere in the fuel line that is supposed to keep the line full. I'll take a look in the manual today.

Re: 1.3L Starting problem

Try pushing the gas pedal to the floor 2 or 3 times before you turn er over. That makes the accelerator pump squirt gas into the venturi . If there is any gas in the float bowl this should work---unless the accelerator pump needs rebuilding.

Re: 1.3L Starting problem

Looked through the FSM and did not find a check valve. Sorry.

Re: 1.3L Starting problem

The needle and seat in the carb act as a check valve. If the needle and seat are bad. the fuel can leak out of the float bowl there and cause your starting problems.

Re: 1.3L Starting problem

I guess I will just live with it. The carb runs to good as it is (not quite EFI, but very good) so I dont want to mess with it.

Re: 1.3L Starting problem

It sounds as though the fuel is either draining out or evaporating. Any dripping
down the carb throat after shutoff? Does it run on the hot side?
