Rear wheelbearing question
It's been awhile sinse the last time I replaced my rear wheelbearing. The last set I used did not use the extra little spacer thing. I'm pretty sure the spacer gets placed between the bearing and retainer but which way should the spacer go. It has a taper to it.
I can post a pic of the spacer if anyone needs a visual aid. TIA Jay |
Re: Rear wheelbearing question
I just replaced mine and used a similar bearing from Napa. I'm not sure I did it correctly, but I installed the bearing with the tapered side facing the diff. and the tapered retainer facing the wheel. When I lined it up on a bench, it seemed that this would make the most sense. Hope I was right!
I've had them in for a while now with no ill effects.....(Maybe I shouldn't have said that....) |
Re: Rear wheelbearing question
The taper (of the spacer) faces toward the brakes.
