Re: Finished spool install!!!!!

I welded mine up. I didnt want to wait for the spool to ship and I am cheap, so I welded the spiders.

Its not as easy as a Toyota diff, but it went OK. I got the whole thing back together and was bolting up the driveshaft, I walked over to get the 2 - 12mm wrenches and there laid a retainer clip for the dials on the diff. So I tear it all back apart, but not before testing it out.

Man does that thing wheel ALOT better. Other than the welded rear, its all stock.

Re: Finished spool install!!!!!

I got mine in the mail Friday but won't get to install it until sometime next week. How hard was the install and what kind of suggestions do you have that you learned the hard way? We are all ears.

Re: Finished spool install!!!!!

Be prepared to have a grinder ready or a dremel tool. I had to cut a little more of the gears away so the wedges would fit. Also get a BIG hammer & punch.Drove it & seems great! We aired up the tires a little more, but seems o.k.. Going wheeling in the morning so I`ll let ya know how she did!

Re: Finished spool install!!!!!

I removed my center section last night and installed the simple spool on my lunch hour. It took alot of hammering to get the wedges down all the way. I reinstall the 3rd member when I got home then took it for a ride... man talk about tire squeal! I am going to play with tire psi to see if that helps. Other than that it drove normal. I have yet to get it offroad,I'll have to repost later.

Re: Finished spool install!!!!!

I wonder what the largest tire dimentions would be , forinstance if a 31*15.5 would snap axles easily or 33x9.5, etc....
