Almost finished with the new mods.....

I finished my new Z link steering arm and got the Rears up front with the Upper shock mounts done today. I also got the whole undercarriage cleaned and painted flat black so the new welds will not rust all to hell. I drove it around this afternoon with some of those cheapo shackles you get at auto zone until I finish the Missing links. I was happily surprised to find the truck drove really well with little or no sway around corners. It also drives much softer now and the z link helped quite a bit with the steering. I think I will try to machine a nice crossover steering arm a little later with my new mill and lathe. The truck looks very cool now and I have plenty of clearance for my 32" mudders to stuff into the wheelwells. Overall I am very happy with the mods and I unbolted the short shocks I have on there now and lifted up the left front wheel to see what kinda flex I am gonna be getting. Even with the cheapo shackles I was able to lift the wheel high enough to put another one under it before the left rear came off the ground. I imagine with the missing links on there and some REAL shocks I will be getting some serious flex. I should have done this much sooner. I really like the Idea that I will only have to keep a rear leaf spring on the truck for a spare on the trail and I will be able to fix any corner. I'll try to get some pictures up as soon as I get it all squared away.

I went to the auto zone today to try to find a long shock and the only thing I could find was an eye to eye 18" compressed and 30" extended. I was hoping to find something a bit longer maybe advanced auto will come to the rescue. If anyone has found a really long model for their zuk from the auto store I'd really appreciate the part number or vehicle make and model it came off of...
