1.6 8 valve

I just bought a 1994 Tracker with a 1.6 8 valve engine. The engine needs a new block. I have located a 1.6 16 valve short block and my question is, will the 8 valve head run ok on the 16 valve block and will the fuel injection work?
Any help appreciated.

Re: 1.6 8 valve

You are in the clear. The blocks are the same from what I know. You should concider doing the 16v I am in the process of it right now and it is not to hard, but if you have everything you need than by all means go with the 8v they to have a lot of power. Good luck

Re: 1.6 8 valve

The 16v block will work with the 8v head. The blocks are identical. The only real problem would occur if the timing belt were to break. The 8v pistons have two valve clearance "dimples" on the top. The 16v pistons have 4 valve clearance "dimples" on the top. The 8v and 16v "dimples do not line up. If the timing belt were to break, the valves and pistons are likely to touch......NOT a good thing. Just keep an eye on the timing belt and you should be allright.
