Elation to depression

Went to the pick-n-pull yesterday. There was a Geo Metro LSi with a 1.3L 16V SOHC MPFI motor with 31K miles. What a deal for $91!

Even though it was pouring rain, I was excited about getting it out. Removing the motot wasn't bad since the front was ripped off and the tranny bellhousing broken to pieces from the accident impact.

Last bolt to remove and I crawled under the motor. only to find the block broken off into the cooling passages. First bummer, block no good.

But it's a G13B block, so we think "Hey, we can still put the head and intake on my motor and gain the 16V and MPFI. Next bummer was the intake manifold was bent to crap.

Last thought, I'll use the 16V head on my motor, use my EFI intake and swap to a Kick throttle body to increase the flow. Third bummer, the intake ports don't match becasue of the reliefs for the port injection.

So the motor was a waste of time. Hoping it's not a complete waste, I figure I can at least grab the starter. Closer inspection shows that the teeth are stripped.

Whole day was a waste.

Did I mention the blood stained air bag on the passengers side? Got a handful of that when I went digging for the ECM.
