Header collector question

Hi all. I'm installing a Thorley header and I've got a problem with my collector. When installed, the header's flange points down at a 15* angle. The collector pipe is straight, about 4" long and 2.5" in diameter. But the input side of my catalytic converter is parallel to the ground, and is made to accept a 2" pipe. Question: can I get a different collector that has a 2" pipe with a 15* bend in it, or will I have to tow my rig to an exhaust shop and have something custom made? Thanks in advance

Re: Header collector question

I have seen a fiew where they just forced it to fit I think they did some bending and flaring of the pipes and just welded them together so the area conected is at the 15 degree angle either that or they cut the pipe off at a angle and welded it to the colector so it doesnt realy go inside not shure but would sugest muffler shop as well I have also seen a flex pipe (it was braided stainless )installed there so when the motor moves it isnt tring to tear the pipe or header apart http://www.izook.com/tech/header/header.htm

Re: Header collector question

I had to modify the pipe to the cat from the header. It was my first welding project. Figured it would be really hard to mess this up. Might have been worth my while to drag it to the local muffler shop, but then I wouldn't have learned all I did....
