83 SJ410 T-case is mine... almost!
I just have to pull it, I looked underneath the truck today and it looks very similar to my samurai's, but it has a drum brake on the rear output, and the D-shafts are as thick around as my pinky. It's dripping a little oil at the rear output seal, but otherwise it's in good shape it seems. Now I've heard about people swapping these into Sammy's. Will it bolt into my truck? I have an 88.5 with the small flange D-train. I've asked before but I got mixed answers. Maybe I'll have to make some measurements tomorrow. I know the 84's bolt right up to the Sammies, and with the small flange 83 I'd have to make a sorta hybrid SJ410/Samurai Ujoint D-shaft right? Sounds like a pain in the arse to me. But I can get this T-case for 33 bucks from the Junkyard, so for my poor college student budget might be my only option for lower gears. My truck is only lifted 2 inches (shackles and Rancho springs)so I want to put some 30's on if they'll fit. I'd like a 4.16 case, but can't afford one right now [img]images/icons/frown.gif[/img] Well there you have it folks, my sorry situation. What do you all think? Anyone wanna trade, got some suggestions?
