Radio Amplifier mounting

Anyone know of a good place to mount a power amplifier inside a Samurai? I do not want to put it under the seat.

Re: Radio Amplifier mounting

How about on the firewall under the dash on the passenger side? I think it may get a little tighter down there if you have AC, but without AC, there probably enough free space there.
It may not be high enough if you cross deep water, though.

Re: Radio Amplifier mounting

I should have mentioned that I do have A/C. I thought of putting it up there but do not have the room. Thanks for responding.

Re: Radio Amplifier mounting

I put my amp under the driver's seat. Yes, I know there's a possibility that water could get in and swamp it, but it's a "cheapie" anyway. There just didn't seem to be a better place to mount it. You could install a high-power indash unit and run it without an external amplifier. Or you could put a carpeted box enclosure in the back, and mount your amp directly to the box. For those who may be looking for decent speakers that fit in the factory holes without cutting, go to Radio Shack and look at a pair of 12-1745's. I'm very happy with mine. They sound very good up to about 45 mph. Any faster, and they're drowned out by tire & wind noise. I'm thinking about just using headphones for long highway trips. Then I couldn't hear the tire & wind noise!

Re: Radio Amplifier mounting

i am planning on bolting mine to a steel plate and then bolting the plate to my tailgate so the amp is inside the tailgate then a couple tack welds and maybe some sealant and a fan / vent hole hopefully it will stay put my car stereo was just recientally stolen so security in something like my suzuki is kind of important my speakers are bolted to the rollcage they are still stealable but they are cheap my cd player is in a 30 cal ammo can mounted to where the factory stereo box was it is lockable and watertight

Re: Radio Amplifier mounting

i am considering building an amp rack with a slide out drawer to go under the back seat, and figure out a way to mount the seat higher. i already plan on moving it forward for a speaker box. i want to use a pair of 10" kicker solobaric L5's in a bandpass box that is L shaped.
