Re: gear install

Do you have a copy of the FSM? That will help you more than anything. Did your R&P gears come with instructions? I'd like to know 'cause I'm regearing my diffs as well.

Re: gear install

Randys ring & pinion www.ringpinion.com has lots of info about installing and what it takes. The FSM will give you the specifics such as torque settings. Definitely read the articles on ringpinion.com; it helped me a lot. As far as tools, you will need at least a dial indicator to set backlash. Plus torque wrench of course. Good luck!

What was said before about the FSM and the other R&P site. Here's another from Izook:

Re: gear install

One tip that none of the instructions I've seen really stress: When your setting pinion bearing preload, make darn sure the bearings are well lubed. If you set the preload with the bearings dry, it will be way to low when they are lubed. Turning them dry can score the races also.
