31s on stock Sami

Is it possible to squeeze 31s on an unlifted Samurai? Have some old ones laying around and I'd like to give it a whirl.

I know the seam needs pounding flat, other then that is it a go? Not to worried about articulation..as a spua I have none

Yes ................. If all you want to do is take a picture of it.LOL
I took the 31's from my zuk and put on my son in laws bone stock samurai one day for the hell of it, you could drive straight but that was it.As soon as you turned the wheel it rubbed all over the inner fender and the pipe for the front bumper

Yea but the tire also rubbed the outside of the fender flares in the back by your black trim under the doors. It sure did look cool with tires on it like that.
Couldn't even go over an ant hill in the yard with out the tires hitting .
Try it on yours if the don't fit winter is not far away I've heard that the salt on the roads up north eat the fenders away for you . just kidding
Well just saw that your not from up north so that won't work.

Re: 31s on stock Sami

another thing to remember, if they are 10.50 wide and you are using stock backspaced wheels, they will hit the springs when you turn the wheel near full lock. I tried this with 31x10.50 and a 2" lift, bumper trimmed and seams pounded. I took them off right away. The 30x9.50 I use now work perfectly, but that's with 2" of lift.

Re: 31s on stock Sami

It depends alot on the width of the tire. I have a set of 31x7.50 mud tires on mine and they do OK. Driving straight or on the highway is not a problem. The only time that i really noticed any rubbing was when I was turning and backing up at the same time. I don't recommend it, but I was able to get by for a little while. My 31's were mounted on stock rims on a stock Samurai. With 31's on a stock Samurai, you can't get going fast enough to hit a bump hard enough to jam the tires into the fender wells.

Where/what kind of tires do you have (31x7.50)?
