Gti bottom end Q\'s

Where would be a good site to find info on swapping the Gti bottom end into my sammy? I still want to use the sumo II head and weber setup, so I need to research.

Re: Gti bottom end Q\'s

Do a search on this board, or send a PM to Zukiman (Geoff Beasley). There are a lot of posts that deal with this swap. HTH

Re: Gti bottom end Q\'s

Most of the post in the search are about transplanting the entire gti motor, I just want to use the short block and stick a sammy head on it. Will the short block bolt up to the sammy tranny or do I need an adapter?

Re: Gti bottom end Q\'s

i think most people actually only use the short block of a GTI motor. They then use a sumoII head and usually a weber carb. It's supposed to be a high revving machine (8k or so redline).

hopefully this is what i will eventually do

Re: Gti bottom end Q\'s

I **think** the g13 series (k,b,a) of power blocks are exactly the same. No wait, there's that 138x cc motor and the 129x something motor.. Hmmm... I am under the impression that the blocks are a bolt up option.

Re: Gti bottom end Q\'s

G13A and G13B blocks are the same, but the swift gti (G13B) uses stronger internal components to handle the higher rpms. The heads are the real major difference between the engines.

Re: Gti bottom end Q\'s

The 13a is the 13xx cc engine?
the 13b is ther 129x cc engine?
Are the piston rings the same between all the 13xx and 12xx (13x series of blocks)?

Re: Gti bottom end Q\'s

G13A (both 12xx and 13xx cc versions)is the SOHC engine in the Samurai, G13B is the DOHC in the swift GTi. Not sure about the piston rings question.
