Removing the Samurai body

Hi there I'd like to replace some body parts on my Samurai since they're really rusty. What's the best way to get all those stuck body mount screws out? Is this a unibody or is the body comprised of separate panels? Thanks.

Re: Removing the Samurai body

Get an impact driver (screwdriver that you hit with a hammer)the impact pushes it into the screw and turns it a little bit at the same time. DO NOT try to yse a regular screwdriver, you will destroy the screws

Re: Removing the Samurai body

I've had terrible luck with a impact screwdriver, i even dented my windshield frame.. The hammer and chisel method works much better and won't dent your body panels. Also applying a little heat can help as most of the body screws have lock-tite on the threads.

Re: Removing the Samurai body

On the ones I haven't been able to get with an impact driver, I use a 3" pnuematic cutting tool and put a big slot in the screw that basically makes it a big flat head screw and I have a huge flat head screw driver that takes them right off. Another thing, I have beat the hell out of them with an impact driver and they haven't budged...gone out the next day and hit them once and they break free...maybe just a fluke, but passing all my info on.

Re: Removing the Samurai body

before you start pounding the crap out of bolts and stuff, get a decent penetrating oil..
I use ER energy release penetrating oil and lube (incredible stuff) dowse bolts with it a couple of days before you start taking bolts out, and a good 90% come out with no problems, then resort to pounding the crap out of them....
