Tracker Automatic into Sami

I'm sure someone has posted this question before. Has anyone tried or put a Tracker 1.6 2wd automatic transmission into a 88 Sami 1.3. I need the automatic and I have access to the Tracker.

It won't work with a 1.3 engine, you'll have to swap in the
1.6 Tracker motor with the auto tranny.Hawk Suzuki does
these conversions.

Re: Tracker Automatic into Sami

I thought about espically after seeing Brent Bradshaw did that on one of his rigs. I asked him and he said it had been a big mistake and he wouldn't do it again. so I dunno I prefer a manual for off road but if it's just a grocery getter might not be to bad.

i was going to do a 1.6 with an auto out of a 2 wheel drive tracker and i was told its not so great you need a huge tranny cooler and they are sluggish. thats what i hear.

Re: Tracker Automatic into Sami

i think if you took the tranny and had it built up you wouldnt have any problems. in fact i plan on doing an auto with a 1.6. but i also heard its a real pain to make that tranny fit into the sammy.

I'm told that you have to cut out the transmission tunnel from the Zuk's floorboard, and weld or rivet in new sheetmetal. If I needed an automatic, I think I would just drive the Tracker! My .02

Re: Tracker Automatic into Sami

Ok here's the deal. The tracker trany is computer
controlled.what you need is the bell housing from a auto tracker 2wd and bolt it to a chevette auto tranny.
A friend of mine is doing this and I pretty sure this is the proper combo. Hope this helps.

Re: Tracker Automatic into Sami

Why not pull the engine, tranny, and computer out of the tracker and put it all in the sami?

Are you building a trail rig or a daily driver? I've got a automatic in my Sidekick. It's great on the street, but SUCKS off-road. There is no way to get any compression braking. Even in 1st gear, the torque convertor slips so much you end up riding the brakes down every incline. I've already warped one set of rotors.
Now if you had a lock up TC and a switch to manually lock it. . .

I thought it was a lock-up converter?
