Ford 2.8 / 2.9 v6 swap questions.

When using the 2.9 what do you use for a fuel pump (for the FI). Is it true that the c4 doesn't bolt directly up to the 2.9 becuase the starter? What do you do about the jackshaft? IE: how do you bolt the c4 to the t case? Would it just be easier / better to use a 1.6 16V and an auto?

Re: Ford 2.8 / 2.9 v6 swap questions.

The C4 tranny uses the tranny bell from the AL4D if I remember correctly, and the short tail shaft from the E-150 series Ford. The flange on the shaft bolts nearly directly to the stock Zuk shaft, you have to grind the lip of the flange on the Zuk though.

Yes, the 1.6 is easier. But 10 years ago it wasn't. 5 years from now everyone may be dropping the 2.9's? Blah blah blah about breaking this and that and what not. With the hp/torque from the 2.9, you don't need to get on the pedal. Don't get on the pedal, and you won't break it.

And it's nice to have that power on the road when I need it too.

The stock zuk jack shaft (on the engine side) is splined and doesn't have a flange. Do you weld another one to it?

You use the Ford jack shaft. Was typing faster than I was thinking.

This is what i used to connect my c4 with my zuki tcase
it is a spicer H block machined alittle bit to fit on the zuki tcase.

Would there be any differance if I used a 2.3l four popper?
ie. length, mounts. does anyone have a pic of how you bolt the flanges together without that H joint?

Re: Ford 2.8 / 2.9 v6 swap questions.

i thought about that too...because a 2.3 is turbo'ed REALLY easy and lots of hop ups are available...but i think if i go the ford route im going to spring the extra money and go with a V-6....worth it just for the torque...2.3's are high strung like a zuk motor and like revs

I don't really know for sure what would be involved with putting the 2.3 in. It is my understanding that it is heavier, longer and taller then the 2.8, but i know it has been done, and the guy that I talked to was very happy with it.
