Re: new guy here, couple of questions?

my .o2, if ya gots a "GOOD" stock carb, dont futs wit it. can not beat a good stock carb in my opinion. as far as the head ??s, cant say much there, dont know nuttin bout yer motor. does it run? sorry shape needin built? run good just wantin more power? give us the scoop so we might help. if it runs good and ya want more power, go with a compression check, if it checks good, give it a complete tune up """"INCLUDING """" NEW TIMING BELT!!!!!!!!! amazing what a difference it can make. after that, see where yer sittin, what mods have ya done to yer rig if any? after a COMPLETE tune up on the motor, id go with gearing mods instead of motor mods (disclaimer for opinnion) if you plan on building it or are currently running larger tires. all of this is assuming you have a good running motor that is NOT wore out.

Re: new guy here, couple of questions?

with all that said, gears dont matter if ya "NEED" a intake system. im assumin from what ya said "i dont have any stock management or carb", you have nothing sittin on top of the intake. if so, get hooked up with sarge, hes on the board here, he can set ya up with a webber carb and everything ya need for it sounds like. quality service, bolt on out of the box and tuned pretty derned close for your motor, any questions, hes great on the phone too if ya have questions or problems come along.
as far as the head ??s, sarge can help ya out on that too.
good luck

Re: new guy here, couple of questions?

Porting, as long as its not overdone, is a good thing.

Sumo head is a performance head from Aisan Auto Parts of Arizona: http://www.asianautopartsofaz.com/suzuki/index.html

And a pony carb is a carb from a canadian Pony, not imported into the US unless it was grey market.

Re: new guy here, couple of questions?

My .02 worth. I like my Weber. I bought it used off a VW buddy for $75.00, modified my intake manifold and made my own linkage. Then again, I'm a certified sicko. Header, I have the Doug Thorley, only 50 state legal system, and I've been checked. I went from a crushed Cat, rotten muffler, rusted tailpipe, cracked stock manifold to the DT with full 2" system. Big difference for me. Others have said keep the stock manifold and go to a full 2" system it gives the same result. Porting the head, as said before don't go to far. Cleaning the casting and matching your manifolds will be good. It will give you a little extra. With 1300cc's every little bit helps. Why not pull the axles and drop the chunks out yourself. Give you a chance to check brakes and bearings. You can then take the chunks to the gear shop. Have them swap the side gears in the carriers. This way you'll have the high mileage gears and bearings in the frontend and newer stuff in the rear. Sumo head, don't know enough about it, but I'd sure like to see how one performs.
