Stupid C-clip thing

Well, the U-joints on my rear D-shaft are in need of replacing. Problem is the retaining clips, the ones on the Zuk right now are the snap-ring type which is what I'm used to, the ones that came with my SGP ones aren't. Instead they are some sort of c-clip which I guess would be easy enough to install, it's just pulling them out again is what gets me. I also have some greasable ones from RRO that came with some sort of weird looking snap ring. Is it too much to ask for to have a regular snap ring on a ujoint anymore? Off my soapbox.

I've also found that the different brands of snap rings are
not the same thickness.I've used the different thickness
rings to get a proper fit when assembling U-joints.So save
those old snap rings!

Re: Stupid C-clip thing

Thanks guys I guess I'm not the only one who suffers from mismatched u-joint retaining rings. Guess I'll just have to be extra careful when pulling the old snap-rings. You'd think with SGP parts I got through the dealer that the rings would be the same. And I ordered the greasable GMB ones from RRO cause on the pic on their website they had the snapring type of retainer.

Re: Stupid C-clip thing

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. The only ones that I have found locally (because ording a u-joint through the mail doesn't appeal to me) that had the right snap rings (correct thickness) with the joint were Precision. They are sold at Fisher Auto Parts in my neck of the woods. This joint isn't greasable but the fit was second to none w/ a lifetime warranty. I put them in several months ago with an NLGI approved grease.
