Folding windshield help needed

Anyone converted their Samurai to the fold-down windshield? Would like to do my 88, but not sure what's involved. Any suggestions anyone?

Re: Folding windshield help needed

Buy the kit direct from any of the vendors. It's pretty self explanitory. The kits range in price from $85-$100.00 for NOS parts. The "fold down" windshield was standard equipment outside the US but not available here. It's a pretty coool mod but one I wouldn't suggest using for offroading unless you have a full roll cage as putting down the windshield does lose a bit (albeit a small bit) of added safety if you roll. It is definately a cool mod.

How quick you want the kit sent to you depends on who you order it from.

Re: Folding windshield help needed

I was lucky to find a SJ410 in a junkyard that had it so I was able to get it from that, but most of the Samurai Vendors carry the kit to convert it, as long as you are a soft top. If your a hard top all ya need is a sawzall ;-)

Re: Folding windshield help needed

Actually this thing started life as a soft top, but someone bought a really nice aftermarket hard top with the sunroof in it. I've been looking all over trying to find the rear support bars so I can put a soft top back on for the summer time. maybe a safari top or something. The hardtop just latches on&off. If anyone has an extra set of the soft top bars..let me know!!
Thanks!

Re: Folding windshield help needed

dont know, I'm cheap myself as I'd rather make something myself, but something I think its better to pay a lil for quality esp if its a street driven truck. Or just find a deal in a junk yard like me haha :-P

Re: Folding windshield help needed

Buy the kit from a Suzuki dealer, Thats where the aftermarket guys must be getting theirs. 82-85 its stock from the factory. 2 hinges, 2 latches, Thats about it.

Without a shop discount, that will cost WAY more and you'll wait for weeks.
