1600 16 v question???

I have heard a few people talk about the 1600 having weak rod and that they can withstand the reving like the 1300 can. How many of you have seen some one break a rod in a 1600? I run mine at 4000-5000rpm and occationally hit the rev-limiter that is about 6500-7000rpm and have had no problems with mine. Just wondering if it is just a rumor. I have never seen a 1300 and a 1600 rod side by side.

The 1600 rods are quite a bit smaller than the 1300 rods. I rev the crap out of mine too with no problems YET!!

Re: 1600 16 v question???

Hey Tim (Tanzuki),
I will testify to the fact that the 1600 16V will hold up to revving it for long periods of time at the edge of the rev limiter...and beyond! I have been running the Tough Truck Competitions, Mud Bogs, and Sand Drags in mine and rev it up to the rev limiter constantly with not even a sputter or hicup......but on the other hand I did the same with my 1.3 and it did not complain either!
