OT: How much to deliver a car?

Odd question: The CEO of the company where I work asked if I would be willing to deliver his 2002 BMW from just south of Chicago IL to Manhattan, New York. All expenses would be reimbursed, including flight home. He asked what I would charge to deliver it.

How much should i charge for my services? I have absolutely NO idea what to offer. He said he has a sealed offer, and we will negotiate after I make my offer.

What's the rate and on what basis is this determinted?

Re: OT: How much to deliver a car?

A guy I work with had a sami delivered about 1100-1300 miles. I could be off there, I think he paid $600-$700. Maybe a little more, I could ask him Tuesday when he comes in. It was hauled on a car carier.

Re: OT: How much to deliver a car?

I know a fella that does just that, he drives peoples cars from the New York, New Jersy areas down here to Florida and then back for them when they go home. He charges about 450.00 per car plus expenses..not including airfare he pays for that. I helped him a few times and was good cash. Now he has a rig and loads a bunch on at once.

I would just charge him less then you make in a day, it would give you some brownie points and you will after all get to be cruising in a beamer. Plus a flight home. Most flights give you all the beer U can drink for free I would do it just for that!

Re: OT: How much to deliver a car?

Since he's offered to pay the flight home, and all expenses, the going rate from Chicago to NYC would be about $200 or so . Most of the guys I know of would charge about $400-$600 plus fuel , but since he's fronting the air fare and paying all expenses , it's a pretty sweet deal . It also depends on the amount of responsibility, along with the car's value .

Murph- i say take your day or days wages that you would normally earn in the office and add 10%. If he is paying for all other expenses that is a pretty reasonable deal. IF you want a co-pilot just swing on up to michigan and grab me... I think that i would look absolutely adoreable driving a BEEMER.

Re: OT: How much to deliver a car?

My brother went to college in Virgina. He lives in California so a trucking company did it for him for about $900.00. That is like traveling the length of the United States. The CEO sounds kind of wealthy so...
