That's a "Fozzy" locker picture sent to me by the IRC gang out west in BC. The first ones were made by Wayne Foster and a lot of the guys out there use them with success....
Will the carrier explode? dunno...would I try it? I'll weld it all up or get a locker...

Re: side gear locker

My opnion, but of course just my opinion is it will blow and youll be done. Leaving it like that is gonna kind of just create slack and every time them gears come in contanct its gonna be hard on them gears. It be kinda of slacking up the drivedrtain and dumping the clutch every corner. I cant belive that that .0000000000001 of a second of slack would possibly keep tires from chirrping. Before you even begin to go hrough a corner that slacks going to be taken up and done with.

Just my .02

I wouldnt try it but giver a whirl if ya have a different theory.

I didnt mind the locker clicking at all i thought it was cool. I went to welded though only becuase of the beter handling charecteristis..... mostly in the snow and the fact it was about a dollar to do.

From the looks of it there's maybe 30* of motion before the welds stop the gears, with a 29" tire w/a radius of 100" or so that equates to about 1 foot of tire rotation before that weld stops the gears. I dunno............
