Handy CB mike gadget.....

Finally got my CB installed on the overhead "console" and came up with a variant of a commercially available mike retractor. I used a product called Key Back which I mounted to the rack and then attached the cable to the mike. Just pulll the mike down, say your peace, then just let go and it retracts and seats up to the rack. Pretty simple and handy.....

Re: Handy CB mike gadget.....

Do you have any pictures of your console? I am thinking of making one myself, but would like to see some different ideas as to what some others have done. Where did you get that Key Back product? Who carries it? How much are they? Think you could pick one up for me? hehe OK, I'm done playing 20 questions now...

Re: Handy CB mike gadget.....

Adam,
The "console" is more of a "rack" than a console. I fabbed it from the windshield spreader bars that I could no longer use. As soon as I can DougO over with his dig. cam or I get some film developed, I'll post pics. I found the Key Bak at a local hardware store and it cost $14, but I'm sure it can be purchased cheaper. The one I have has a black polycarbonate case with a vinyl coated cable. There are others that are cheaper, maybe around $7-$8. If you can't find it locally, let me know and I'll pick one up for you....
I'm really pleased with the overhead "rack", but if you're a tall drink of water, headroom could be an issue. I'll explain when I can post pics......
