Dumb Question about Greasable U-Joints

Hi all. Question: How do you know when you've put enough grease into a greasable u-joint? Do you keep pumping until it comes out from somewhere? Will it blow a seal if you put too much in? Thanks in advance.

Re: Dumb Question about Greasable U-Joints

If you put in any more than the joint needs , and constantly stretch the seals , you'll just have to grease them more often. Not that big of a deal .

You should watch for grease to push through around the rubber seal on all 4 caps to ensure that grease has reached the needle bearings.

I grease a little every ~~ 1 ~2 months or so or after I play hard in sand or water/muck.

Well, you won't know... ,which is why its important that you see it push through on all 4 caps. Like anything else, it will take the path of least resistance. Sometimes using a little more pressure on grease gun (or using an air grease gun) can pursuade it.
