I Thought My Boat Was A Money Pit!

All I wanted was 33's. Now it's ring and pinions, install kits, and bearings all around, B-rings on new axles, 10 inch wide rims, SPOA's and YJ springs, New Shocks, Drive Shafts, Brake Lines, etc. etc. etc. When do I get my 33's?

Hey, at least you've got the order down right . Most folks put the tires on first , then try to make it go later....

Re: I Thought My Boat Was A Money Pit!

howdy,
that sounds right. i start like this. $3000 into the engine. $1600 into lift. $900 into drivetrain. $1900 in needs i.e. winch, lights, bumpers. $1100 into body i.e. diamond plate. $1300 for rims and tyres. and now i plan to spend under $600 for roll cage. and i put all of this into a sammi i traded for a proter cable 19.2 cordless drill with light.

Re: I Thought My Boat Was A Money Pit!

howdy,
i have another right now. it's got a crate engine with about 2000 miles on it. the transmissoin makes noise when you go into 2nd gear but then goes away. also the rear axle needs rebuilt, but all i think is wrong is they used the same crush sleeve. there is damage in the rear quater panels. but just in the rear corners. but i have put a kick @$$ hood scoop on it. i got this sammi for trade of a craftsman lawn tractor i would longer need. the pic of the scoop is below.

Man, is that a bumper or a battleship that got stuck on the front?

MJohnson: Building my Zuk has been expensive as well, and I'm SPUA on 30's! Over $5k invested to date, and I'm not finished yet. But I don't have a boat, so that makes it easier to justify!

Jimzuki: Thank you for posting your $ numbers. I feel much better about my "habit" now!

Re: I Thought My Boat Was A Money Pit!

jesus mary - what the heck was that bumper used for?! ( the rare, beta test only 160 mph suzuki factory bumper??)

on the serious side, looks like I'll be in the market for a 'basket case' zuk in about 3-4 weeks. Need a template / demo / test mule for the 1300 CIS / 1300 CIS turbo, auto tyranny swap, and toy case swap conversion stuff. body doesnt really matter ( though it'd be nice to be able to drive the thing) but frame, and wiring harness need to be in good shape. at this point its still just my 'hobby' so I cant spend big $$$ on stuff untill I get some inflow to match the expenditures.

Jim - despite razzing you about 'find me one', I think you're a wee bit far away!
