Engine and Tranny Fit Question

Hi there I'm thinking of swapping in a Chevy Vortec V6 4.3L engine and an NV3500 transmission. Will these parts fit reasonably into a Samurai? Thanks for the help!

Re: Engine and Tranny Fit Question

I know the 4.3L will, (Check out lightning conversions) but I think everyone who does it finds it easier to use a 200R4 tranny. but hey if you are good at fabbing, or if you have a few months then RRO (rocky road outfitters) will be out with new glass parts. HTH

Re: Engine and Tranny Fit Question

V6 conversions are great for the street, but not necessary for trail riding or rock climbing IMHO. You will also lose the light weight and easy maintenance that the 4-cylinder engine offers. If you're intent on swapping engines, consider the 1.6 Tracker/Sidekick 4-cyl instead. Just my .02

Re: Engine and Tranny Fit Question

You also end up having to shorten the rear driveshaft such that long travel suspensions are out of the question. The Vortech swaps we have seen sport a rear driceshaft that's only about 7-8" long. This makes tall lifts or flexible suspensions near to impossible.
