Re: cam sprockets???HELP ASAP!!!

I'm gonna guess that you have a 1.3 head with a 1.6 short block. If so then you most likely have a square tooth can sprocket and a round tooth crank sprocket. If you are trying to fit the 1.6 cam belt then you will notice that the round tooth belt is a no go on the square tooth sprocket.
Still assuming that my guess is right, then the easiest way is to get a 1.6 adjustable cam sprocket for a 8V 1600.
You will get a more responsive donkey at the same time.

Oh, and if my guess is wrong then forget what I wrote.

i was trying to use the 1.3 cam pulley on the 1.6 head...are the teeth on the block differnt???

Re: cam sprockets???HELP ASAP!!!

The teeth on the 1.3 timing belt have a squareish shape to them.

The teeth on the 1.6 timing belts are rounded.

Same holds true for the 1.3 and 1.6 pulleys.

Re: cam sprockets???HELP ASAP!!!

Yes, the 1.3L cam gear has "square teeth" while the 1.6L 8V has "round teeth" as Glenn stated previously. The mounting diameter, locating pin diameter and outer diameter are all the same for all vehicles. You cannot use the 1.3L cam sprocket with the 1.6L belt. You could always buy a nice shiny adj cam gear for the 1.6L to solve the problem, LOL

Re: cam sprockets???HELP ASAP!!!

Glad you got it fixed but not all 1.3 engines had square teeth. My 94 is round and came that way.
