Suggestions for jack mounting points/method?

Title says it all. Never mind the request for pictures or anything else. I have to figure out some way to mount up the blasted thing or I will be going wheeling without what I consider to be an essential item.

Thanks in advance if anyone responds.

Re: Suggestions for jack mounting points/method?

I've had mine mounted here for 3 years now. Welded 2 tabs to the crossbar and used 1/2" bolts with wing nuts. I dont think this mount will work with a hardtop, but it works good for me. Remember to clean and lube the jack offen to keep it in good working order. Nothing worst than having a highlift jack that wont work because it rusted up or is packed with mud. Pick up a repair kit and keep it in your tool box just in case you or someone on the trail needs one.

MItch put ours in the back of the zuk, he used the mounting tabs and stuck those on the front side of the fender wells. It works pretty good to keep the cooler right behind the seats too... multiple uses... HI lift AND cargo bar.

We cut about 5" off the length of ours and mount it to the tailgate. A couple of bolts and wing nuts make for easy access and removal.

I mounted mine on my overhead rack , keep the mechanism inside, so it don't get corroded....

Re: Suggestions for jack mounting points/method?

It seems like if you laid it across the top of the tailgate (you might have to cut a few inches off) and bolted it with wing-nuts in 4 places, 2 on the corners, 2 on the tailgate, it might help hold the ol' tailgate together when you have a big heavy spare tire attached to it. You'd have to remove the jack to open the tailgate. I'm going to do it this way next week. It MAY not help the tailgate but it won't hurt.

Thanks to all, these are some great ideas! I still haven't decided which way I am going to go with it, but all your ideas were better than mine !!

Re: Suggestions for jack mounting points/method?

Mine is attached to the internal section of my (custom built) rollcage, I used a couple of wingnuts too, but she rattles a bit so I use a rachet strap to keep it all in place...

Plenty more pix on my website...
