Flywheel interchangability

I'v come across a great deal on a 16v engine w/47k. Unfortunately, the engine has the automatic transmission plate. I have a few spare 8v flywheels. So the question becomes, are the 8v and 16v flywheels interchangable?
Based on the huge difference in price between the 8v and 16v Centerforce DF clutchs, I would say they are not....but hey, just might get lucky.

Re: Flywheel interchangability

If I am not mistaken you can put the flywheel off a sammi on the 16v block. Cause in all acctuality the blocks are the same. If I am wrong in any sence someone please correct me. Hope this helps Robert.

Re: Flywheel interchangability

I have heard that the 8v and 16v share the same shortblock, or at least they are interchangable. I am curious why the 16v CDF clutch is $130 more than the 8v....if they are supposidly based on the same short block. Maybe the clutch plate itself is larger on the 16v (?)than the 8v (8.5"). Its probably a marketing thing to get more money on a "less common" application.
I'm just trying to avoid any suprises when I do this engine swap.
