Hi-Tech Retreads/// Supply down demand up

I called them about ordering some 33's today and it seems to be quite an ordeal to get a set...
Before I go any further I want to make it clear I am not atempting to bash this company in any way. As far as I know they are a fine corporation. In this particular instance being I am crunched (because i am a profesional procrastinator) for time they just arent a solution to my needs.
... They said every time they get any casings in they sell out almost instantly. THe guy said to call back monday and see when the truck w/ the casings would get there, then I can call back again on that day and try to be one of the lucky people to snag a set. WOW this sounds like a lotery! I looked around toun and found a set of mastercraft (cooper offbrand) Courser MT's for $500 mounted and balanced so I'm going with that. Its' not the $355 I was going to pay but I can get them next week and not next month. SO anyway if you want some plan ahead. The great deal isn't a secret anymore.

I got a set of 31's and absolutley love them! the were so well balanced that I only needed 1 oz weight on on one tire and .75 on the other three and I think the rims caused that. I'm getting a set for my daily driver as well to see how long they last.

FullTilt-

I used Hi-Tecs on my Sammy. Good deal. When I went to put recaps on my GV, I got the same run around.

BUT!!!!!!

The Courser MT's are a better deal. I ended up going with the Coursers in a LT 245/75r16 (31's) and they cost me $78 a tire out the door. Less than $400 for 5 tires mounted, balanced and taxes included. Even on/off road warranty!

The Coursers run MUCH more quite on the road, and have a nice side wall with a sorta "digger lugs" thing going on. The traction is superb and Moab-tested (by me !) I've got 10,000 miles on them now and they the wear is good (slow).

I highly recommend them. FOr me, they are cheaper than re-caps, and I don't have to mount them myself.

My $.02

The 33's to my door end up costing $90 a piece. The shipping is what makes them less desirable to me now. I can get 33" Coursers for $82 on the rims and out the door. But if you live closer to Hi-Tec, the shipping isn't so bad.
