Who is running a dual tire config (street/trail)?

Just curious to what's happnin' out there. I have a chance to get all 5 stock wheels+tires for free and I am wondering if it would be worth it to switch my tires (I have little bittle 29x10.5 swampers) back and forth on my zook. I have a jetski trailer that would house all 5 of my swampers very very well so I could transport my tires very easily.
anyone with 2 bits is more than welcome to comment

If you want to go through all the trouble to change tires everywhere you go to save tread wear then by all means knock yourself out and have fun doing it.

I swap them back and forth all the time. I keep the Swampers (32's) unbalanced and at 4 psi typically, and the 31's for the road use are a much better street tire. I also flat tow, and all 5 Swampers fit in the back of the Zuk with no problem. It only takes about 15 minutes to change all 4 tires out, not too bad. I also flat tow 400 miles at a time (or drive 100), so it's a LOT less wear on the Swampers.

Re: Who is running a dual tire config (street/trail)?

I'm a daily driver and those swampers aired down to 10 psi and with the little/no power my poor engine has I am thinking on going dual tire... Granted it would be a pain in the arse to change them every time but the ride would be quieter, chix would no longer think zook is sooo cool (DAM DAMDA ADMAMDMADMADM, arrr a (-) to doing this!) and I may be able to go faster! 55 to 56mph! whawhoo!
This would also allow me to go to larger offroad tires if need be and not to worry about streetability..
Thanx all

Hey jeepin,
What size are those road tires you got on that rig you are towing in the picture?
They sure look wider than 10.5 to me

Re: Who is running a dual tire config (street/trail)?

Good eyes. Those are 31x11.5 Riken Raiders mounted on 7" rims. I traded a set of 225/15 tires with street tread and some 8" rims for them. The 32's in the pic I got for $50 (all 5). I sold my 29" Swampers to Zukinut, and used the money and $50 to buy those, which are used but brand new. The guy that sold me those bought a set of used (but new) 34x9.5's for this XJ for $400, and the guy that sold him the 34's bought a set of new 36's. It was a Swamper trading day I tell you.

If you look around, you can find good deals on tires, I come across them occasionally.

Re: Who is running a dual tire config (street/trail)?

thats what im gonna be doin... since most stuff around here, you dont need much of a tire to do the stuff here, but when i go to disney, or the dunes or somehting like that, that is big, thats when ill change to the big tires... since mine is a DD...

Put on your seatbelt... I wanna try something.
