Stock Rear drive shaft

Hey guys,
My wife's 91 Sammi has a problem with Bucking at mid-throttle crusing...I suspected the TPS not being set right, but have verified 6x that it is...I did find however that the rear drive shaft is loose in the slip yoke...twisting lose like it has play in it...I am figuring that this is where the problem is originating...Kinda like the play in the drive shaft is working against the rear end - thus the bucking...I packed the Shaft full of grease and it lessened the problem until the grease started working out...So if yall agree, Does anyone have a spare (Good) stock driveshaft that you would be willing to sell/donate to my wife's cause??...Tom

Re: Stock Rear drive shaft

I did some searching for a shaft about a month ago. There are (were) a few listings on the IZOOK.com classifieds. Most don't give any detail as to weather or not they are from a post '88 - to get the right flange size. Might get in touch with some listing there.

I am a little surprised that there is enough slack in the splines to allow it move in the direction of torque enough to cause your problems.... has it had a hard life? Are you sure you don't have a miss or a timing problem? Might take your rear shaft out, put it in 4H, and take it down the road to see if your problem goes away.

I'll be back.

FYI, I know not everyone can afford a new driveshaft like the ones we have, so we lowered our prices for a while.

Re: Stock Rear drive shaft

Thanks for the advice with the 4H thing...
It appears to have had a creampuff of a life.
Yet there is the slack in the shaft...
Timing is dead on...and the TPS is set right as far as I can tell...
The bucking only occurs while moving at speed with little load and applying gentle throttle to maintain speed.
The Bucking is similar to being in low gear and tapping at the throttle to make the Sammi buck coffee all over the person sitting next to you!
I will try the 4H idea...Thnx...Tom
