1.6 16v rebuild problem

Well my enigne got turned over for the first time sence i rebuilded the motor. I am having problems with it though, it seems to be real gutless and has like a nock of something like that, do you all think that mabey me timeing could be off by like a tooth or something? I do want to add that this is the first time that i have rebuild a motor. And anything else i should now? That knock is it possible its a rod? am i that unlucky? or is it my lifters? any help would be appreciated.

I'd be pulling the pan and checking the bearings. Did the pistons turn freely on the rods after they were pressed on? How many miles did it take to start the knock? What is the oil pressure like?

If it aint broke , I can still fix it...

It has about 1 mile in the new block. And everything turned really nice. is it possible that i have a lifter noise and thats why i am gutless too?

if you got lifter noise you got big problems, that engine doesnt have lifters! Mine was a little noisy until everything seated

Re: 1.6 16v rebuild problem

I spent about 1800 on it. $510.00 rro rebuild kit, $120 engine mechine work, $700 doller port and polish and rebuild on my head, had to get a new block(rod went through it) that was $380, new connecting rods $80, then spark plug wires, plugs, dist. cap, oil, ect. about $60
