Re: Need a 34 pcti Vw carb

Doug, VW carbs are PIC2 or PIC3s. Can you be more specific about what you want besides the 34mm size? I've got a couple laying about under the bench, just not sure which models right now. Tell me more about what you're looking for & I'll see if I can find one.

You can buy new ones from JC Whitney for about $130.

Re: Need a 34 pcti Vw carb

if you need even bigger than that, early 60's vintage Mercedes 220's, and 230's came with (dual) 36mm 1 bbl solex's, and Land Rover 2.25 liters came with 38, and even 40 mm 1 bbl solex's.

are you just interested in added flow, or looking for a specific bolt on? ( some of the MB, and Land Rover carbs are turned 90* on the mounting when compared to the VW versions)

oh - and just in case its of interest to you, the very early Land Rover Solex 1bbls didnt use chokes - they use an idle enrichment circuit in its place **the improved airflow resulting from the lack of a choke plate actually gives them more flow than the later, 38mm carbs, while keeping the better low throttle control of the smaller venturi.(apologies if this has all been talked to death previously)

Re: Need a 34 pcti Vw carb

doug - all of the carbs I mentioned use the Solex 2 bolt mounting pattern. Having run both Rovers, and Mercedes,I know that, at least between those two types of vehicles, the flanges match. I'll have to dig through the parts bins to see if I have any singles left - I've been getting out of Rovers, and most MB stuff since 68 has been FI. I know I've got a 2x1bbl set of the MB models, but they're going into a friends retro-rod: If I cant find a spare carb for you, I'll shoto some pics of those ones, and you can tell me if they'd work on a suzuki.
