Bart Racing Wheels?

Anyone have some, if so do you like them? I am thinking of getting some 15 X 8 w/ a 1 in BS. The reinforced center type. Check them out.

What do you think? Good price, but will they hold up?
Any opinions are appreciated.
Thanks,

Re: Bart Racing Wheels?

Can't say about the strength but it is for a lite ride. Only thing I see to watchout for is to be sure they have over a 4" center cutout to fit over a large hub and not just for a car hub. This can be an easy fix in lathe though if needed. The price seems very reasonable.

Re: Bart Racing Wheels?

FWIW, I just returned a set of Bart beadlock rims, what a POS!!!!!! The lock ring was a sheet metal stamp that was only about 1/16th inch thick and distorted with only 12 ft/lbs of torque. The ring that was welded to the rim was even thinner and many of the threaded inserts would spin; had to hold them with vise grips to get the bolts to tighten. These rims were so poorly made that one would not hold pressure. I'll never buy anything made by Bart again.

My 0.02,
James

Re: Bart Racing Wheels?

I only saw 5 on 5 bolt pattern?? Don't you need a 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern?? I also second the center hole size, gotta be enough to fit over the hubs. I've been shopping around for wheels myself, I'll post the cheapest wheels I can get when I find 'em.

Re: Bart Racing Wheels?

The 5 on 5.5 are at the bottom of the list. I called and asked about the center hole dimension today. They went out to the warehouse and measured one for me, it is 4 and 1/4 inches. I think that is big enough. Does anyone else know for sure?

Re: Bart Racing Wheels?

Hey James,

Did they take the wheels back without too much of a hassle?

Did you order some MRT's yet?

Re: Bart Racing Wheels?

I measured my stock wheels the other day and they had a 4 1/4 center hole.

Re: Bart Racing Wheels?

Hi Chris,

You're not going to believe this, but MRT is currently out of business. Something about a change in management. They don't know when they will be making wheels again, best guess is a couple of months. For the time being I'm just going to use non-beadlock rims. I like the "kits" being made by Rockstomper.com, check them out.

Later,
James

Re: Bart Racing Wheels?

Im running the Bart wheels on mine. 15X10 with 2 inch BS.

I havent wheeled yet, and I dont have bead locks. The comment about the bead locks troubles me, as before I read that post, I would have recomended these wheels, as we have raced them on our Modifieds.

Another poiint on the Bart wheels, which is probably why the beadlock was so flimsy, is that on a race car, particularily dirt, they are designed to give away, absorb inpact, hopefully to spare suspension parts from breaking. Dirt cars bang wheels alot, and its much easier to have a disposable wheel, than change front end parts and get everything set right again. Maybe that is why the bead lock seemed so flimsy, but still doesnt explain the poor quality of construction.
