Re: How do I tell-88 or 88.5 ?

Steering wheel on 88 has 3 spokes, 88.5 has 4.
Most 88.5's have larger flange on driveshafts (14mm bolts) - (12mm on 88's).
Square vents on 88.5 and radio is in dash, not in a separate box.
Attached pic shows an '87 - same as the 88's

Re: How do I tell-88 or 88.5 ?

The differences can meld together a little. I think the changes for the 88.5 were not started all at once but were introduced thru the course of the model year.I have an 88(something) it has the new dash and steering wheel but still has the small T-case flanges and 2 rear brake lines.

Re: How do I tell-88 or 88.5 ?

I have an 88.5 jx, it has the same dash as my friends '90, but the same D.shaft as my friends '87 (I swapped in his spair on the trail once.) I just thought it was the dash, radio and 5'th gear in the tranny that was different. Am I wrong on this?

1988.5 Silver JX, SPOA, 31x10.50's, Holley carb, snorkle, locked front and rear, always planning more things.
