TBI Motors

Help please. Will a TBI head bolt directly onto a carb version block? Seems that my fuelie motor ('90) may have a cracked block (getting oil in the coolent) and it has started getting hot. Since I just built a new motor for the 88.5 car and have the old block laying around, I could just freshen it up and bolt the fuelie head on the short block along with the TBI if it is a bolt up deal. I know that the carb motors are 1324cc and the TBI motors are 1298, but I figured that the head mounts are the same, since they share many other parts.
Also, can you change the TBI to a Weber and use the stock electric fuel pump with a regulator?
Thanks for any info.

Re: TBI Motors

as far as i know, the main difference in the TBI and carb motors is the intake manifold... the heads should be the same

ive heard of people using an electric fuel pump with a weber, but you'll have to change the intake manifold to make the weber work...

someone please correct me if i'm wrong

Re: TBI Motors

Steve, thanks for the info. Yes I knew I'd need to change the intake on the TBI motor for the Weber, and I've two extra intakes laying around. I was wondering about the fuel pump though. I figured that I could keep using the stock electric pump, and just add an inline regulator for the Weber.

Re: TBI Motors

yeah, that should work fine...

i know i've seen somewhere on the net about pressure regulators and webers, and i believe that 3lbs is right for highway usage, and some people go as low as .5lbs for off road use (to keep it from flooding)...

i've looked for where i got that info but it has excaped me for the moment... i'll post that info up here when i find it

Re: TBI Motors-Update

Jerked the head and looks like I just need a new head gasket. Some kind of off brand gasket on it, and that was probably the problem. Seem like that I read on the bbs some time ago that you should use Suzuki gaskets for the least problems. Can anyone enlighten me please?
