Broken Lateral Links--why & what 2 do next

Why do you think I broke my lateral links? I have a perrin sway bar that was welded onto the stock back, rear lateral link.. It broke right at the weld. I think it had something to do with the weld not having a slug behind it, and allowing the weld to burn though while welding the bracket in place. Here's a pic of the broken piece:

So now i'm in the market for some new lat links. I've looked at cusco, and the cheap ebay ones.. OBX too.. I think I'm going to choose the ebay ones because they come with 3 year warranty and only cost $150 for all four while cusco costs $500 for all four. I figure if they break, I have 3 years.

But then again, would welding or fixing the old OEM's be okay? Or could i buy new oem's but weld the sway bar bracket in place with the slug in the middle to prevent weakening?

Interesting.. help!??
