Electric Shield installation

I would like any help connecting the electric shield cord to my snowmobile. It is a 2001 Yamaha SX700R and I have been told this is easy to do. But, I opened the hood and got totally lost on even where to start. I don't want to pay a dealer to do this, if it is so easy! I am looking for any step by step procedure anybody would be willing to take the time and give to me! Thanks to you all and remember KEEP ON RIDING!!!

Re: Electric Shield installation

Yamagod on the right side of the sled there is a wire for the reverse buzzer. It is a three wire lead, hot ground and don't know what the third one is for. If you go to www.totallyamaha.com and search the message board archieves there are several post on this. Otherwise post on the message board. Maxdlx

Re: Electric Shield installation

This is easy to do. First you will need to find a hot wire under the hood, usually on the right side of the sled by the muffler. Use a test light to determine the hot wire (+) make sure the sled is running. Then find a good spot for the ground wire. On a metal surface, the best place is on the belly pan where they bolt the molding strip on (still on the right side ). Run the wire out of the way of any moving objects like your brake rotor. GOOD LUCK
