`90 Safari need more speed

I need more speed from my safari 377, i know what yer saying don`t waste your time and get something else, but i can`t afford another machine right now. A friend of mine said he seen a safari with a tuned clutch and it would hit 85mph without a problem, so anyone how has any tuning tip for me please let me know, thanks

Re: `90 Safari need more speed

i hate to burst your bubble, but i don't think you'll ever get your Safari to go 85. I had a 87 Safari 377, with a little clutch work done an d i could just reach the 75 mark, i'm not saying its impossible, but don't hold your breath. Good Luck

Re: `90 Safari need more speed

Only 1 Safari will hit over 80mph and its the 85-86 Safari GrandLux with its 521LC engine(same chassis as the Safari 377 but with slightly longer track)Or you can do what I did is I installed a 447 engine in my 87 Safari 377 but even then 75mph would be hard to hit.

Re: `90 Safari need more speed

Actually my buddy broke that on his 1990 Safari LC 3 times last year.
Its the shaft with the plastic sprockets that turn the track,Right?
He was never able to solve the problem as he broke 3.

This problem is only on the Independant suspended Safaris(GLX,LC,LX) BTW.

Re: `90 Safari need more speed

Its the steel shaft inside the transmission that connects to the shaft that had the plastic gears, Is this the same shaft?
