sled tie down

I've got this karavan trailer ( a pice of junk and it's almost new...'99) and my tie downs are eather stripped out or broken off. I was hopping someone out there has an easy fix for it. (I've tried the bolt up throught the bottom but it will not tighten down enought to hold the sled in place. Any help you guy/gals can give me I would love.
thank for your time

If you can't fix it with Duct tape it's not a Jeep....!!!!!

Re: sled tie down

It is an easy fix. Take a look at www.tritontrailers.com under their accessories section. They offer a piece that is a metal plate with a nut welded on. You can bolt that to the bottom of the deck to replace the stripped out tie down. I am sure that triton is not the only one out there selling this. I would recommend checking with your local trailer dealer. They most likely have them. Another option is to make one yourself. I had the same problem on my previous trailer. I used a piece of 1" thick aluminum that I had laying around. I drilled it, tapped it and bolted it to the bottom of the deck....worked like a charm...zero cost!!

I sympathize with your karavan experience. My buddy found out yesterday that the reason his surge brakes don't work is that they were assembled backwards at the factory. It is also a '99.

Good Luck

Re: sled tie down

tahnks for the rplay. But I broke down a bought a better trailer today. went with a drive on-off. I'm thinkign the cost of the trailer will be covered by not haveing to scrape my sled up off the highway when the tie downs brake again. I'll look at the web site so I can at least fix the trailer before i sell it off.

Jeep or sled....the only way to go!!!
